　　　　阿伯（康纳·查普曼 Conner Chapman 饰）是一个13岁的懵懂男孩，在社区中，性格有些懦弱的他经常受到其他人的排挤和欺负，对于这些恶意，阿伯只是竭力的逃避，并没有想过正面反击。阿伯只有一个朋友，那就是和他一样被别人歧视了斯威夫特（肖恩·托马斯 Shaun Thomas 饰）。一次偶然中，阿伯和斯威夫特遇见了名为“小猫”（肖恩·吉尔德 Sean Gilder 饰）的废品经销商，小猫教会了两个男孩如何驾驶马车，两个男孩成为了小猫的手下，帮他收集废弃金属来赚取外快。在和马相处的过程中，阿伯渐渐发现了自己和动物交流的天赋，但是马在斯威夫特的眼中不过只是他用来赚钱的交通工具而已，两个男孩的友谊就此产生了裂痕。
