《姗姗来迟》讲述了主人公星司离开了女友三三，到另外一个城市追寻自己导演梦想的故事。在新的城市，星司成为了一名小导演却一心想拍出自己满意的作品。他有一个铁杆搭档阿鱼，还有一个好朋友——心怀表演梦想的“服务员七七”。迷惘的星司为了证明自己的能力，与混账上司打赌，要是自己的下一部作品仍然不能入围电影节就收拾东西滚蛋。但狡猾的上司克扣了拍摄的预算。在星司内心的英雄“赛文奥特曼”的激励下，排除万难的星司终于开机，却遭遇设备被盗，朋友阿鱼出走。“七七”为了唤起星司的信心，隐瞒了自己将放弃梦想回到家乡的事情，以一个演员的身份与星司排演了特摄片《赛文奥特曼》的经典片段。七七不辞而别，星司挥别了心中依赖的赛文奥特曼，实现了自我的成长。
